Resize Photo & Signature for SBI — Free Online Tool

You have spent an hour filling the SBI online form and the portal throws a generic upload error when you try to submit your photo. No explanation — just a red message and a blank field. Nine out of ten times it is a file size issue (photo over 50KB) or a format issue (PNG or HEIC instead of JPG). These tools fix that in under two minutes, entirely in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.

SBI Document Upload Requirements — PO, Clerk, SO, CBO

Upload Type Dimensions Format File Size
Passport Photo 200 × 230 px JPG only 20–50 KB
Signature 140 × 60 px JPG only 10–20 KB
Left Thumb Impression 240 × 240 px JPG only 20–50 KB

Note: SBI applies these specs across PO, Clerk, SO, and CBO recruitment cycles. Always verify with the specific notification on sbi.co.in/careers before applying — requirements can change between cycles. The SBI Clerk and SBI PO portals are separate logins but share the same document specs.

Specs last verified: April 2026. Always cross-check with the official notification on sbi.co.in/careers before applying.

Tools for SBI Applications

How to Prepare Your Documents for SBI in 4 Steps

1

Get the right passport photo ready

White background, no exceptions. SBI scrutiny teams flag off-white, cream, or light grey backgrounds during document verification — they compare your uploaded photo against physical copies at interview stage. Take the photo near a window in good daylight against a white wall if you're doing it yourself. Face centred, eyes open, no hat, no sunglasses. A front-facing selfie-style shot with a plain white wall behind you works fine.

2

Resize the photo to 200×230px and compress to 20–50KB

Open the Photo Resize tool. Set width to 200 and height to 230. Adjust JPEG quality until the file size falls between 20KB and 50KB — 40KB is a safe target. Download it as photo.jpg. Do not use Paint or screenshots to do this — those tools often increase file size or change the format silently. Our tool handles both resize and compression together.

3

Prepare your signature and left thumb impression

Sign on white paper with black ink — cursive or mixed case, not block capitals. Photograph it or scan it cleanly. Open the Signature Crop tool, crop tightly around just the signature, resize to 140×60px, and compress to between 10KB and 20KB. For the left thumb impression, press your left thumb firmly in black or blue ink on white paper, lift cleanly, photograph it with even lighting, then use Image Compress to bring it to 240×240px and 20–50KB. Check the image — if the ridges aren't clearly visible, redo it.

4

Upload on sbi.co.in before the last date

SBI registration portals get heavy traffic in the final two days. SBI PO and SBI Clerk are among the most applied-for banking exams in the country — expect slowdowns and occasional timeouts in the last 48 hours of the application window. Apply at least a week early. Use Chrome or Firefox. If an upload stalls, wait 90 seconds before retrying. Always verify all three uploads — photo, signature, and thumb impression — before final submission. Download your application form PDF as backup once done.

PO / Clerk SBI PO & Clerk Requirements

SBI PO (Probationary Officer) and SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) are two of the most competitive banking exams in India, drawing millions of applications each cycle. Both use separate portals under sbi.co.in/careers but follow the same document specs.

  • • Photo: 200×230px, JPG, 20–50 KB, white background
  • • Signature: 140×60px, JPG, 10–20 KB, black ink, not capitals
  • • Left Thumb: 240×240px, JPG, 20–50 KB, black/blue ink
  • • Portal: sbi.co.in/careers (separate forms for PO and Clerk)
  • • Phase I: Preliminary online exam
  • • Phase II: Main exam + interview (PO); Main exam (Clerk)

SO / CBO SBI SO & CBO Requirements

SBI SO (Specialist Officer) covers roles like IT Officer, Systems Officer, Law Officer, Chartered Accountant, and Rajbhasha Adhikari. SBI CBO (Circle Based Officer) recruits contractual officers for specific states. Both follow the same photo specs.

  • • Photo: 200×230px, JPG, 20–50 KB, white background
  • • Signature: 140×60px, JPG, 10–20 KB, black ink, not capitals
  • • Left Thumb: 240×240px, JPG, 20–50 KB, black/blue ink
  • • Portal: sbi.co.in/careers (separate notifications per post)
  • • SO selection: shortlisting + interview (no written exam for some posts)
  • • CBO selection: written test + interview, state-specific vacancies

What SBI Portal Rejects Instantly

The sbi.co.in recruitment portal gives unhelpful error messages. When an upload fails, it typically just says "Invalid File" or shows nothing at all. Here are the four reasons it happens most often.

Photo or thumb impression over 50KB

51KB gets rejected. The portal enforces the byte limit strictly. Camera photos straight from your phone are typically 2–5MB — way over the limit. Use the Photo Resize or Image Compress tool to get to between 20KB and 50KB, and target around 40KB for a safe buffer.

PNG or HEIC instead of JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Android screenshot photos save as PNG. Some editing apps default to PNG. The SBI portal checks the actual file encoding — not just the extension. Renaming photo.png to photo.jpg does not fix it. Always export as JPG/JPEG properly, or use our tool which always outputs a valid JPEG.

Signature in capital letters

SBI specifically disallows signatures written entirely in capital letters. "PRIYA SHARMA" in block print is not a valid signature. If this slips through the portal, it will still be flagged during document verification and can result in disqualification. Your signature must look like an actual signature — cursive or mixed case.

Coloured or lined paper background

Thumb impressions taken on notebook paper (ruled lines), graph paper, or off-white letter paper will be rejected at document verification even if the portal accepted the upload. SBI requires a white, unlined background for thumb impressions. The ink also must be dark enough that the ridges are clearly legible in the photographed image.

About SBI Recruitment

State Bank of India is the largest public sector bank in India and one of the biggest employers in the banking sector. SBI conducts its own independent recruitment for Probationary Officers, Junior Associates (Clerks), Specialist Officers, and Circle Based Officers — unlike most other public sector banks that recruit through IBPS. Each SBI PO or SBI Clerk notification typically attracts over 20 lakh applications.

All SBI applications are submitted through sbi.co.in/careers. SBI has separate portals and logins for each recruitment — if you applied for SBI PO last year, you will need to create a fresh registration for SBI Clerk. The document upload requirements are identical across all SBI exams, which means you can prepare your photo, signature, and thumb impression once and reuse them.

All tools on this page run entirely in your browser. Your photo, signature, and thumb impression images never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

Applying to IBPS banks as well?

SBI and IBPS share the same photo and signature specs — 200×230px photo, 140×60px signature, 240×240px thumb impression. A photo prepared for SBI PO will work for IBPS PO and IBPS Clerk without changes. See our IBPS document guide for any IBPS-specific requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions — SBI Document Preparation

What is the photo size for SBI PO and Clerk application?
SBI PO and SBI Clerk require a passport photo of 200×230 pixels (width × height), JPG format, between 20KB and 50KB. The background must be plain white. The same requirement applies to SBI SO and SBI CBO applications.
What are the SBI signature requirements?
The SBI signature image must be 140×60 pixels, JPG format, between 10KB and 20KB. Sign in black ink on plain white paper in cursive or mixed-case style. Signatures written entirely in capital letters are explicitly disallowed — this can get your application rejected during document verification.
What is the left thumb impression size for SBI?
SBI requires the left thumb impression at 240×240 pixels, JPG format, between 20KB and 50KB. Use black or blue ink on plain white paper. Press firmly so the ridge pattern is clearly visible, then photograph or scan it in even lighting.
Can I upload a PNG photo for SBI instead of JPG?
No. The SBI portal only accepts genuine JPG/JPEG encoding. PNG files — even ones renamed to .jpg — will be rejected. HEIC files from iPhones also need to be converted. Our Photo Resize tool always outputs a valid JPG file regardless of what format you upload.
My SBI photo is 55KB — will my application be rejected?
Yes, 55KB will be blocked at the SBI portal. The limit is 50KB and there is no grace margin. Use our Photo Resize or Image Compress tool to bring your photo to around 40KB — well within the 20–50KB range.
Can I use the same photo for SBI PO and SBI Clerk?
Yes. The same photo file works for SBI PO, SBI Clerk, SBI SO, and SBI CBO as long as it meets the spec: 200×230px, JPG, 20–50KB, white background, taken within the last 6 months. Keep the correctly sized file saved on your device so you can reuse it across SBI and IBPS applications.
