Tools for Railways RRB Applications

RRB NTPC Photo Upload Guide — Step by Step

RRB NTPC is one of the largest railway recruitment exercises, often drawing crores of applicants. The portal (rrbapply.gov.in) can be slow during peak periods. Get your documents ready before you open the application form.

1

Prepare your photo

Use a recent photo on plain white background. Studio photo or a clear mobile camera shot both work. The photo should show your face clearly from forehead to chin. No dark glasses, no cap or hat. Wear formal or semi-formal clothes. The same photo will appear on your admit card, so make sure it looks professional.

2

Resize to 200×230px

Open our Photo Resize tool. Upload your photo. Set width to 200 and height to 230. Adjust JPEG quality until the file is under 50KB (usually 60–75% quality works). Download as JPG. Verify the file size in your file manager before uploading.

3

Prepare signature image

Sign on plain white paper. Photograph or scan clearly. Use our Signature Crop tool to crop tightly and resize to 140×60px under 30KB. Your signature on the application form, admit card, and during document verification must all match — practise consistency.

4

Keep scanned certificates ready

The initial RRB application only asks for photo and signature. But have your certificates scanned and ready for document verification after selection. Compress each PDF under 1MB using our PDF Compress tool. Label each file clearly — photo.jpg, signature.jpg, ssc_marksmemo.pdf, caste_certificate.pdf, etc.

5

Apply well before the deadline

rrbapply.gov.in handles enormous traffic. The portal sometimes slows to a crawl or shows error pages in the last 48 hours before the deadline. Start your application at least a week early. Complete it in one session if possible — some browsers lose form data if you return later.

Group D Railways Group D Application Document Checklist

RRB Group D recruits Track Maintainer, Helper, and other Level 1 posts across Indian Railways. It is the entry-level technical position and sees the highest number of applications in any Railways recruitment cycle.

Why Railway Applications Get Rejected — Photo and Document Errors

Every RRB recruitment cycle, lakhs of applications face issues due to document problems. Many of these are avoidable. Here are the real reasons applications get flagged or rejected:

Photo not exactly 200×230px

Uploading a 200×200px or 230×200px photo — pixel order matters. Width must be 200, height must be 230. The portal validates dimensions on upload.

Photo file exceeds 50KB

Even a 51KB file will be rejected. Always compress your photo to under 48KB to have a safe margin. Our tool shows exact file size.

Photo in PNG or WebP format

The portal requires JPG/JPEG specifically. Photos saved from WhatsApp often come as .webp. Screenshots are usually .png. Always convert to JPG first.

Colored or patterned background

Studio photos sometimes come with light blue or off-white backgrounds. RRB portal may flag these. Ask specifically for a plain white background when getting studio photos.

Caste certificate mismatch at document verification

One of the most serious issues: if the category claimed during application (OBC/SC/ST) does not match the certificate produced at DV, the candidature is cancelled. Double-check before applying.

OBC NCL certificate not for current year

OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificates must be for the current financial year or as specified in the notification. An old NCL certificate will not be accepted at document verification — get a fresh one before DV.

Signature mismatch on exam day

If your signature on the OMR sheet or admit card looks significantly different from the uploaded signature, invigilators may flag it. Use the same consistent signature everywhere — application, admit card, answer sheet.

Wearing cap, hat, or sunglasses in the photo

Any headgear or glasses that obscure facial features will lead to rejection. Religious headgear may be permitted if worn daily — check the notification. Sunglasses are never allowed.
