Why We Built This
Every year, lakhs of candidates apply for government exams — APPSC, UPSC, SSC, Railways, banking. And every year, thousands of them get their applications rejected for something completely preventable: wrong photo dimensions, PDF file size over the portal limit, signature not matching the specified pixel range.
It's not a skill problem. It's a tools problem. Most free tools online upload your files to their servers, keep you waiting, then either charge you for download or show you a corrupted output. Government portals have very specific requirements — 3.5×4.5cm at exactly 20KB, or a signature at 140×60px under 10KB — and generic tools just don't cut it.
PrepTools was built to solve this one specific problem. Every tool here is calibrated to the actual requirements published by Indian government exam portals.
How It Works
Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser. When you drag a photo in, it never leaves your device. The resizing, compressing, and converting all happens in your computer's memory using browser APIs — Canvas, File API, WebAssembly.
This approach is faster (no upload wait), more private (your Aadhaar scan never touches a server), and works offline after the first page load. It's also why our tools process files in milliseconds while other sites make you wait 30–60 seconds for a server to respond.
Technical verification
Open DevTools (F12) → Network tab → upload any file → you'll see zero outbound requests carrying your file data. The processing is 100% local.
