We take privacy seriously — our tools are designed from the ground up to process your files entirely inside your web browser, without sending them to any server.

2. Files You Upload — Your Data Stays on Your Device

All file processing on PrepTools — including photo resizing, PDF compression, PDF merging, PDF splitting, image compression, and signature cropping — happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never sent to our servers or any third-party server.

  • Files you select or drag into a tool are read by your browser's local memory (RAM).
  • Processing (resizing, compressing, converting) happens using browser APIs like Canvas, File API, and WebAssembly.
  • The processed output is also generated locally and downloaded directly to your device.
  • No file content, metadata, or filename is ever transmitted to us.

You can verify this yourself: open your browser's DevTools (F12) → Network tab → upload a file → confirm zero outbound file requests to any server.

3. Information We Collect

We collect minimal, non-personally-identifiable information to understand how the site is used and to improve our tools:

3a. Analytics

We may use website analytics (such as Google Analytics or Cloudflare Web Analytics) to collect aggregated, anonymized data including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on page
  • Approximate geographic region (country/state level)
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Referring website (how you arrived at our site)

This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

3b. Advertising — Google AdSense

Because your files never leave your device, there is no file data for us to secure on our servers. For the limited analytics and log data described above, we rely on the security measures of our third-party partners (Google, Cloudflare), which maintain industry-standard security practices.
