Tools for KPSC Applications

Step-by-Step: Preparing Documents for KPSC Online Application

1

Get your photograph clicked

Use a recent photo (within 3 months) against a plain white background. Studio or mobile camera both work in good light. Avoid colored backgrounds, shadows on the face, or casual clothing. No sunglasses or head covering.

2

Resize photo to 200×230px using the Photo Resize tool

Open the Photo Resize tool, upload your photo, set width to 200 and height to 230, and adjust JPEG quality to keep the file between 20–50KB. Download the resized JPG — this is what you upload to kpsc.kar.nic.in.

3

Prepare your signature

Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue ball pen. Photograph or scan it clearly. Open the Signature Crop tool, crop tightly around your signature, resize to 140×60px, and compress between 10–20KB. Save as JPG.

4

Scan and compress your certificates

Scan at 150–200 DPI. If any PDF exceeds 1MB, use the PDF Compress tool. For multi-page certificates use PDF Merge. For image-format certificates, convert first with Image to PDF.

5

Verify all files before submitting on kpsc.kar.nic.in

Before opening the portal, confirm: photo is 20–50KB, signature is 10–20KB, all PDFs are under 1MB. Rename files simply without special characters. Read the specific KPSC notification for the exam you are applying to — limits and formats can vary.

Common Reasons KPSC Applications Get Rejected Due to Document Issues

Photo not exactly 200×230px

Wrong dimensions cause upload failure or distorted display on the hall ticket. Use the resize tool to match exactly.

Photo file below 20KB or above 50KB

KPSC has both a minimum and maximum — an overly compressed photo is also rejected. Target 30–45KB for safe submission.

PNG uploaded instead of JPG

kpsc.kar.nic.in requires JPG/JPEG format. PNG files are rejected even when dimensions and size are correct.

Non-white background in photo

Off-white, light blue, or studio backdrop colors are not accepted. The background must be pure white.

PDF document exceeds portal limit

High-resolution scanned certificates often exceed 1MB. Compress each PDF individually before uploading.

Caste certificate not from Karnataka authority

Caste certificates issued by authorities from other states are not valid for KPSC. It must be issued by the Karnataka Tahsildar or competent Karnataka authority.

About KPSC Exam Applications

The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) conducts recruitment for KAS (Karnataka Administrative Service — Deputy Commissioner, DSP, etc.), FDA (First Division Assistant), SDA (Second Division Assistant), PSI (Police Sub-Inspector), Commercial Tax Inspector, and hundreds of other Group A, B, C, and D posts across Karnataka government departments.

All KPSC applications are submitted online through kpsc.kar.nic.in. Karnataka has a unique OBC category system — Category I, Category IIA, Category IIB, Category IIIA, Category IIIB — distinct from the central government OBC system. Candidates must obtain certificates from the Karnataka Tahsildar specifically; certificates from other states are not valid.

KPSC also requires proof of Kannada language knowledge for many posts — typically SSLC/PUC with Kannada as a subject, or a Kannada proficiency certificate. Verify the language requirements in the specific notification before applying.

All tools on this page work entirely in your browser. Your Aadhar card, caste certificate, and other sensitive documents are never uploaded to any server.
