Anna University conducts the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test for MBA and MCA admission, and CEETA-PG for M.E., M.Tech., M.Arch. and M.Plan. admission. For 2026, the official Centre for Entrance Examinations page opened registration on 16 March 2026 and closed it on 10 April 2026. The TANCET MBA and MCA exams are scheduled for 9 May 2026, while CEETA-PG is scheduled for 10 May 2026. Even when dates change in future cycles, the application process usually follows the same practical order: register, fill personal details, enter education details, upload photo and signature, pay fee, and download the submitted application.
The most common mistake happens at the image upload stage. Candidates often start with a studio passport photo that is too large, or a mobile photo that has the wrong ratio. The official procedure specifies a JPG photo with height 300 pixels and width 200 pixels. That means the image must be portrait shaped, not square. If your photo is 200x230, 300x300 or 413x531, it may look fine to you but still be wrong for the Anna University TANCET portal. Use the Photo Resize tool, choose custom size, set width as 200 and height as 300, then compress near the required 50KB target.
The signature has a different shape. It should be a wide, short JPG image: 200 pixels wide and 70 pixels high. Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen, then scan or photograph it in bright light. Crop only the signature area, leaving a small white margin around the writing. If the crop is too tight, the signature can touch the edges after resizing. If the crop includes too much blank paper, the signature becomes tiny and hard to verify. Use the Signature Crop tool to prepare a clean 200x70 file and then reduce the size close to 11KB.
Before opening the application form, keep all details ready: name as in SSLC records, date of birth, gender, community, nativity, SSLC registration number, HSC or diploma details, qualifying degree details, email ID, mobile number, and payment method. Reserved category candidates should keep community certificate details ready. For CEETA-PG, also check whether your degree branch matches the coursewise eligibility list published by Anna University. A technically correct photo will not help if the academic details are entered carelessly.
Do not rush the final submit button. The official procedure warns that once the application is submitted, there is no scope for change of data. In 2026, Anna University published a list of applications with erroneous data and asked candidates to resolve issues before hall ticket download. That is a relief window, not something to depend on. Treat the first submission as final: preview the photo, preview the signature, verify spelling, check category, check exam choice, and save the acknowledgement after payment.
If you are applying from a mobile phone, prepare the files first and store them with simple names such as tancet-photo.jpg and tancet-signature.jpg. Avoid filenames with brackets, symbols, Tamil characters or very long text, because older admission portals sometimes fail silently on unusual filenames. If you scanned certificates as images, convert them to PDF and compress them before saving. All PrepTools processing happens in your browser, so your degree marksheet, community certificate and personal documents are not uploaded to our server.
