Resize Photo & Signature for IBPS — Free Online Tool
You have cleared the IBPS notification, filled in your details, and then the portal throws a File Error on the photo upload. It does not tell you what is wrong — it just stops you. Most of the time it is a size issue (photo over 50KB) or a format issue (PNG instead of JPG). These tools fix that in under two minutes, entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
IBPS-Specific Rule: Signature Must Not Be in Capital Letters
If your signature reads "RAHUL KUMAR" in block capitals, your application will be rejected during scrutiny — even if the portal accepts the file upload. Write your signature in cursive or mixed case. This rule is unique to IBPS and SBI portals.
IBPS Document Upload Requirements — PO, Clerk, RRB, SO
| Upload Type | Dimensions | Format | File Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passport Photo | 200 × 230 px | JPG only | 20–50 KB |
| Signature | 140 × 60 px | JPG only | 10–20 KB |
| Left Thumb Impression | 240 × 240 px | JPG only | 20–50 KB |
| Handwritten Declaration | 800 × 400 px | JPG only | 50–100 KB |
Note: IBPS applies these specs across PO, Clerk, RRB Officer, RRB Office Assistant, and SO exams. Verify with the specific notification on ibps.in before applying — requirements occasionally change between cycles.
Specs last verified: April 2026. Always cross-check with the official notification on ibps.in before applying.

Get a proper passport photo ready
White or very light background — not off-white, not cream. Face centred and clearly visible, eyes open. No hat, no sunglasses. If you are using a phone photo, take it near a window in daylight against a plain white wall. IBPS is stricter than most state PSCs about background colour. When your form goes for scrutiny, a yellowish background is one of the things that gets flagged.
Resize the photo to 200×230px and compress to 20–50KB
Open the Photo Resize tool. Set width to 200 and height to 230. Adjust JPEG quality until the file size lands between 20KB and 50KB — 40KB is a good target. Save it as photo.jpg. Do not rename it to photo.png and back — the actual file encoding must be JPEG, not just the extension.
Prepare your signature, thumb impression, and handwritten declaration
Sign on white paper with black ink — not capital letters, not block print. Photograph or scan it cleanly. Open the Signature Crop tool, crop tight, resize to 140×60px, compress to 10–20KB. For the left thumb impression, press your left thumb in black or blue ink on white paper, lift cleanly, photograph it, then use Image Compress to bring it to 240×240px and 20–50KB. The handwritten declaration (800×400px, 50–100KB) should be written in English in black ink — photograph with good even lighting so every word is legible.
Upload on ibps.in or ibpsreg.ibps.in before the deadline
IBPS registration portals slow down significantly in the last 2–3 days. Apply at least a week early. Use Chrome or Firefox — some older browsers have trouble with the file input on ibpsreg.ibps.in. If you get a timeout after uploading, do not close the tab; wait a full 2 minutes before refreshing. Check all four uploads — photo, signature, thumb impression, and declaration — before submitting the form.
PO / Clerk IBPS PO & Clerk Requirements
IBPS PO (Probationary Officer) and IBPS Clerk are the two highest-volume IBPS exams, with lakhs of applications each year. Both use the same portal — ibpsreg.ibps.in — and the same document specs.
- • Photo: 200×230px, JPG, 20–50 KB, white background
- • Signature: 140×60px, JPG, 10–20 KB, black ink, not capitals
- • Left Thumb: 240×240px, JPG, 20–50 KB, black/blue ink
- • Declaration: 800×400px, JPG, 50–100 KB, black ink, English
- • Portal: ibpsreg.ibps.in
- • IBPS SO (Specialist Officer) follows the same specs
RRB IBPS RRB — Officer & Office Assistant
IBPS RRB recruits for Regional Rural Banks — Officer Scale I, II, and III (the bank officer cadre) and Office Assistant (the Multipurpose Assistant cadre). The document specs match CRP PO and Clerk exactly.
- • Photo: 200×230px, JPG, 20–50 KB, white background
- • Signature: 140×60px, JPG, 10–20 KB, black ink, not capitals
- • Left Thumb: 240×240px, JPG, 20–50 KB, black/blue ink
- • Declaration: 800×400px, JPG, 50–100 KB, black ink, English
- • Portal: ibps.in (RRB registration is separate from CRP PO/Clerk)
- • Officer Scale II/III follow the same upload requirements
What IBPS Rejects Instantly
ibps.in won't give you a detailed error message. It will just show "File Error" and stop your form submission. These are the four things that cause it most often.
Photo or thumb impression over 50KB
55KB gets rejected. 51KB gets rejected. The limit is hard. If your photo is 52KB and you rename it, nothing changes — the portal reads the actual byte count. Use the Photo Resize or Image Compress tool to bring it under 50KB, and aim for around 40KB to be safe.
PNG uploaded instead of JPG
iPhone users shooting in HEIC, candidates saving screenshots as PNG, or anyone using image editors that default to PNG — all get caught here. The portal only accepts genuine JPG encoding. Renaming photo.png to photo.jpg does not fix it. Always export or convert to JPEG format properly.
Signature written in capital letters
IBPS explicitly disallows signatures in capital letters. If your uploaded signature is "RAMESH KUMAR" in block capitals, your application can be rejected during scrutiny even if the portal accepted the file. Your signature should be cursive or mixed case — something that looks like an actual signature, not a printed name.
Thumb impression on coloured paper
Some candidates take the thumb impression on ruled notebook paper, graph paper, or light yellow stationery. IBPS requires a white background. The ink impression must also be clearly visible — a light, partial print where half the ridges are missing will be rejected at document verification even if the portal accepted it during registration.
About IBPS Exams
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for hiring officers and clerks across 11 public sector banks — including Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Bank of India, and others. Each year IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, and IBPS RRB cycles together account for over 10,000 vacancies and receive crores of applications. IBPS SO covers Specialist Officers — IT Officers, HR Officers, Agricultural Field Officers, Law Officers, and Marketing Officers across the same banks.
All IBPS applications are submitted online through ibps.in and ibpsreg.ibps.in. The registration portal has some of the strictest document size enforcement among Indian government exam portals — it checks file format, pixel dimensions, and byte size independently, and fails silently if any of them are off.
All tools on this page run entirely in your browser. Your photo, thumb impression, and declaration images never leave your device.
Applying to SBI as well? SBI PO and SBI Clerk share identical photo and signature specs with IBPS. See our SBI document guide for any SBI-specific portal differences.
